Scholarships studies

Undergraduates

All undergraduate students (in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Telecommunications Engineering) are awarded with a full scholarship of the COMISIÓN NACIONAL DE ENERGÍA ATÓMICA (CNEA). These scholarships are meant to cover accommodation, food and transport expenses in San Carlos de Bariloche, and they allow students to focus completely on their studies.

The application for admissions to any of the careers at the Instituto Balseiro is at the same time an application to the scholarship. The only mechanism to get the scholarship and to be accepted at the IB is by passing an admission that is taken yearly.

At the Instituto Balseiro students are required to pass all their exams during the semester to be able to take the courses of the following term. The loss of their condition as “Regular student” for academic reasons or any other reason regarded in the regulation means the loss of their right to the scholarship.

Postgraduate studies

Postgraduate careers at the IB are fee-based. Nonetheless, most students get scholarships from one of the following institutions

  • Agencia Nacional de Promoción Científica y Tecnológica - ANPCyT (National Agency for the Scientific and Technological Promotion) (http://www.agencia.gov.ar/)
  • Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica - CNEA (National Comision of Nuclear Energy) (http://www.cnea.gov.ar/)
  • Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas – CONICET (National Board of Scientific and Technical Research) (http://www.conicet.gov.ar/)

Specialization on Applied Technologies of Nuclear Energy (CEATEN for its acronym in Spanish)

The CNEA offers every year a limited number of scholarships (internal scholarship for upgrading) for Argentinean participants who stand out for their merits and academic and scientific records. Foreign participants can get a scholarship by their home countries or international organisms like the OAS, or the IAEA. The CNEA will grant scholarships to foreign participants if proposed by renowned institutions in the country of origin (universities, governmental organisms, etc), which will have to afford transportation costs and sponsor the graduates insertion once back at their home country after finishing their stay in Argentina.
