extension courses
University level
- Summer scholarships.
- IB-ICTP Diploma Course on Particle Physics and Condensed Matter.
- Mathematics and General Physics (online support for applicants).
- José A. Balseiro Schools.
- IB50K: Contest of business projects with a technological base.
Summer Scholarships
Purposes
- To become familiar with experimental techniques in Physics and Engineering, and to get acquainted eith new working environments.
- To collaborate in research activities in Physics and Engineering Labs at the CAB
Recipients
Advanced undergraduate students in Science (Physics, Chemistry, and related areas) and Engineering having reached at least 75% of their career, or recently graduated professionals in these same careers
Work Dynamics
Summer scholarships are one-month internships in which participants carry out a research work in one of the labs at the CAB, usually in February. During the first two days, participants visit the laboratories and are given the possible work lines. The internship finishes with the submission of a final report and the presentation of a poster.
Scholarships
Scholarships are granted by CNEA to cover national land transport to and from Bariloche, accommodation, and food during the stay. Foreign students need to cover transportation to Argentina from other sources. Generally, 15 students are selected from around 100 applicants, Argentinean or from other Latin American countries.
General lines
The topics tackled during the internships cover different research lines of the Physics and Engineering Labs at CAB.

José A. Balseiro Schools
General description
These Schools are aimed at Argentinean and other Latin American students either in the last years of their graduate studies, recently graduated or in the first years of a PhD. The Schools main objectives are to train human resources in advanced topics of modern Physics, and to contribute to the opening of the IB to the rest of the countries in the region.
Characteristics
The topics vary every year. The courses are not just informative, they are aimed at providing young students with the basic tools for their profession.
Duration: 1 month (generally during October )
Organization
- During the first three weeks, 6 one-week modules or subjects are offered, The first two weeks include subjects which are basic. During the third week the courses seek to get the students in contact with the most recent advances on the proposed topics.
- The last week practice assignments are done with the research groups at CAB. This gives the students the opportunity to experience a research activity at an active prestigious scientific center.
